Have you ever wanted to observe a professional pianist while they practice for upcoming concerts? Dr. Sungeun Kim, Professor of Piano at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Performing Arts and Steinway Artist, has invited us to do just that by utilizing the newest direct communication technology of the Steinway Spirio.

You can experience Dr. Kim’s practice session like a “fly on the wall” as it will all be transmitted live to our concert hall over Spirio video. In addition, as she practices at BW, the Spirio piano with us in our store will play, duplicating the performance for all of us “flies” to experience as well.

Be sure to take notes! Immediately following the Spiriocast, our observing audience will enter a guided discussion with Amy Sauriol, Steinway Partnerships Director. Here are some prompts for your consideration: How is Dr. Kim creating a stylistically appropriate interpretation and how might that be taught? What’s one technique that Dr. Kim is demonstrating and how would you teach it to students of different ages and levels? What advice do you give to students as they prepare for a performance?

Join us for this new interactive series along with your fellow educators as we benefit from the top-quality professional development that observing Dr. Kim will offer. We are especially grateful to Baldwin Wallace University and Dr. Kim for providing us this opportunity.

Please RSVP to Amy at [email protected] by May 10th. All music teachers are welcome!
